It felt as though the nekojin boy has been walking forever. In truth, it had only been a few hours since he had washed up on shore tired, wet, and hungry. He was hoping to find a village with an inn. He could dig through the food they threw out, and spend the night comfortably enough in the ally behind it. He had had far worse arrangements in the past, afterall. The large bag he carried - its contents, his most treasured items - seemed to become heavier with every step. Soon though, as the late afternoon was becoming the early evening, his luck gave out.
Xaio found an old fishing village. He thought it was rather odd. He didn't see many people moving about - but folk in fishing villages got up before the sun most days. Surely they had simply retired for the evening. But then, there was absolutely no noise. No stench of fish in the air. Xaio wondered about these things, but too hungry and exhausted to contemplate them.
Unable to find the scraps from an inn or fishery, the nekojin had to settle for small apples from a tree. Beside the tree was a small mud hut, with no door. No light came from within, and its walls bore one window. Curiously, he peeked in the window. In the shadowy light of early evening, Xaio saw a small table, and a bed roll. Little else adorned the hut. It had no signs of being inhabited. Deciding it was as safe a place as any, Xaio entered the hut, making himself as cozy as possible for the evening, and enjoying the tangy apples for his dinner.

Darla had followed the Nekojin, keeping her distance. She had watched as he discovered the apple tree, and the abandoned hut. She nodded in approval, her lips twisting into a dark grin. "Nekojins alway were considered clever creatures," she muttered to herself.
She slipped into another abandoned hut - the empty village was full of them after all. Noone had lived here in quite sometime. It didn't even smell like a fishing village these days. Although, she was amazed that the huts stood erect after the devastation that was visited upon the rest of the Kingdom. Here, in her hut she rested, regaining her strength, biding her time until morning came.
With the rising sun, she went to the edge of the village, on the shoreline. Here she used a simple spell to call a medium sized fish from the water. This would do nicely as bait for the boy. Tying the fish up with a line, she returned to the hut where the nekojin slept, sitting in the doorway, dangling the fish near his nose. Now, she merely had to wait for him to bite.

iamxaio [2:48 P.M.]: Xaio woke with a start. How could he not? There was a delicious smelling fish dangling in his face. His eyes went from the fish to the woman holding it. Afraid? No Xaio! He was a warrior at heart! And he had a broken orc spear not far from him to prove it. He cautiously sat up, looking at the woman inquisitively with his large brown eyes. "Who are you?
DarlaDauth [2:51 P.M.]: ::Darla smiled, watching the nekojin boyhair awaken. Upon looking at her, he would notice her tanned skin, complimented by dark eyes, and shaggy black hair that wasn't quite long enough to reach her shoulders. She wore a pair of riders pants, a shade of gray, with a low cut red blouse. Her eyes twinkled as she watched him.:: My name is Darla. I brought you a present.
iamxaio [2:58 P.M.]: Xaio immediately let his guard down, realizing the fish was a gift. Xaio loved presents! He accepted the fish graciously. By all accounts he looked much like a seven year old boy, dressed in blue and white checkered shorts, save the large cat-like ears, lion like paws in place of hands or feet, brown hair on his leges, and the catlike tail. His fur, as well as his hair, was a sandy brown, a match to his brown eyes. "I'm Xaio!"
DarlaDauth [3:02 P.M.]: ::Her lips twisted into a dark smile, her lips painted a dark shade of red.:: Aren't you such a cute little boy?!
iamxaio [3:04 P.M.]: Xaio scowled. Everyone always thought he was a little boy! He was seventeen! He hated that. "Xaio's not a boy! I's almost a man! Everyone always thinks Xaio is a boy."
DarlaDauth [3:05 P.M.]: ::Darla sighed apologetically.:: I'm so very sorry, I had no clue. I thought you were just a lost, little boy! You should fix that.
iamxaio [3:12 P.M.]: "Xaio's not lost, little boy," he declared. then he thought about it. " Well, Xaio lost, but not little boy! He scratched his ear thoughtfully as her last words sank in. "Xaio can't change!"
DarlaDauth [3:14 P.M.]: You can't change? ::She looked at him in shock, as though it were something as common as eating breakfast.:: I can change. ::Her countenance shifted into that of a dark haired little girl, wearing the same outfit she was. She had not truly transformed, but cast an illusion for the nekojin to see.::
iamxaio [3:17 P.M.]: The nekojin watched wide eyed. He'd seen magic before, but not like this. Or had he? He remembered when he was a little boy, the man that used to visit him named Rye. Rye had given him a ring that let him become a human while he wore it. But Xaio had lost that ring. "Can you teach Xaio?"
DarlaDauth [3:23 P.M.]: ::She shook her head, the illusion fading as it seemed she switched forms again.:: I'm afraid I can't teach you, but maybe . . .::Her voice trailed off as she considered something.:: I might ca do it for you. Bu you'll have to come to me, everytime you want to change back. ::She watched him closely, gauging his reaction::
iamxaio [3:34 P.M.]: Xaio thought about what she said. To be human? Humans were respected. Nekojins like him weren't. Then a though occured to him. "Xaio no has gold. He can't pay for it."
DarlaDauth [3:37 P.M.]: ::She smiled. This was going to be easier than she thought. She reached into her cloak and began pulling out various items from her hidden pouch. Orange flower petals, a dark twig, a vial of liquid.:: I have no need for gold, but I could use someone to run errands for me, if you are staying awhile.
iamxaio [3:39 P.M.]: A large grin covered his face. He had done the same thing for Hailey! He missed her. Perhaps this would help him find her! He nodded eagerly. "I can do that! Xaio no knows how to leave."
DarlaDauth [3:42 P.M.]: Well that sounds perfect. ::Her voice had a certain darkness to it. She had the boy cup his paws together, as well as paws could be cupped. She broke the twig into small pieces, dropping them into his hands. She then bruised the petals and did the same. Finally she poured the water over them, and mumble a few words incoherently.:: Drink this, and you shall be changed.
iamxaio [3:47 P.M.]: Xaio did as she instructed, watching curiously. As she mumbled the words, he felt a faint tingling in his paws, where the water touched. He looked at her questioningly when she told him to drink it, but he obligued. As he drank, the tingling followed the water. He did indeed change, although he did not realize it until it was over. The fur on his paws and legs slowly receded, the fur on his legs becoming human hair. His body grew taller, his muscles changing from feline to human. Once he was finished however, his ears and tail still remained. He was now 5'9, a lightly tanned skin, and had a small muscularture to his frame. He looked at her wide eyed, for the first time in his life, as eye level with an adult.
DarlaDauth [3:50 P.M.]: ::Darla watched the transformation happily, as his body changed from that of a six year old boy, to a seventeen year old. She looked at the change appreciatively. He wasn't bad looking . . but she had no time for that!:: How do you feel?
iamxaio [3:51 P.M.]: "Xaio feels amazing!" He announced. Then his teenage face became serious.
iamxaio [3:51 P.M.]: "What now?"
DarlaDauth [3:52 P.M.]: ::Darla looked at him thoughtfully.:: Now, come with me. We'll go to my home, and I'll teach you the lay out of Aaliron. You dont seem to be from around here.
iamxaio [3:53 P.M.]: Xaio nodded, following her from the hut.
